Wabi-Sabi Workshop at Art and Soul
Art and Soul Portland ended this past Monday. I had a fabulous time teaching two classes and taking two classes. This post shows the amazing work done by a great group of students. I was impressed by their willingness to experiment and have fun, and also by how encouraging they were of each others efforts.
The class worked from their intuition, playing with acrylic paint, re-inkers, alcohol inks, and acrylic inks. They also used paper, fabric, gauze, teabags, netting and other items to enhance their pieces. Each student received a traditional haiku poem that she could use as a prompt, as well as three visual prompts.
Hope you enjoy viewing their work. I certainly enjoyed watching it unfold!

Great stuff! It looks like everyone got right into it... wonderful. I like the idea of both teaching and taking classes. One day I hope to do the same :)
Oh Serena, thank you for such an enjoyable day of painting and creating! I love my finished pieces and have already gessoed some boards to make more. I also gave one of my finished pieces to my parents for their 60th wedding anniversary and one to my sister and her husband for their 32nd anniversary -- three of the pieces are going to be hanging on our boat -- so as you can see, I am quite pleased with the outcome. Thank you. Dayna
